In a world of increasing
violence and chaos, there are few havens for children to learn practical
self-defense. Many Martial Arts schools advocate peaceful resolution to
conflict and train their students accordingly. We fully support this
belief. However, one day, a peaceful solution may not be possible and
there may be an eminent need to protect yourself or someone you love.
You may not be able to wield a weapon, as one may not be present. It may
be a time like this when you need to fall back on your training and
experience. You may need to defend yourself in a physical altercation.
In the event this situation actually occurs, one would hope that the
training you received at your martial arts studio would be sufficient to
protect you. The best way to ensure you receive the proper training is
to train as though your life depended on it. It does! At the Dragons’ Den, Sifu Jeff Macalolooy, Sifu Arnel Mendoza, Professor Joseph Bautista and Sibak Jonathan Macalolooy teach the art of Kajukenbo. Additionally, Sifu Mendoza teaches the Filipino Stick Fighting Art of Escrima. Kajukenbo is the first true American open handed Martial Art. Founded in Hawaii in 1947, Kajukenbo is an eclectic art combining the styles of 5 Asian Martial Arts. The name “Kajukenbo” is drawn from these base arts. “Ka” represents Korean Karate (Tang Soo Do). “Ju” represents Judo and Jujitsu. “Ken” comes from Kenpo. Finally, “Bo” comes from Chinese Boxing (Sil-um Pai Shaolin Gung Fu). The purpose of our website is to give the visitor a bit of background on the art, it’s origins; it’s teachings, and insight into the school itself. The site exists to honor both the teachers and the students of the Dragon’s Den. The mission statement of the
school is simple: To view our Student Creed and our Prayer, click here
